SUMMARY:NJSSC: An Intergenerational Storytelling Workshop for a Green Amendment
DESCRIPTION:Join NJSSC’s Green Amendment team this upcoming Earth Week to celebrate both our planet and the Green Amendment. The Green Amendment includes both present and future generations in its text\, and environmental issues are of the utmost concern to today’s youth. However\, we are not the first ones on the stage here! So\, following the Amendment’s lead\, join us for an intergenerational dialogue and storytelling session on the Green Amendment. We’ll do a brief training on storytelling\, then split into breakout rooms with members representing as many different generations as possible where you will tell your own story about why you care about the Green Amendment. Our goal is to foster a safe space for sharing and hearing stories and for communicating between generations. \nSign up at tiny.cc/GA_workshop for the event on April 24\, 12 PM! You can learn more about our student campaign at tiny.cc/GA_facts.

SUMMARY:Environmental Justice Team\, Unitarian Society of Ridgewood\, NJ
DESCRIPTION:Environmental Justice Team of the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood\, NJ is hosting GAFTG Founder Maya van Rossum for a presentation and Q&A on April 28th at 7:00pm EDT. \nFor decades\, communities have relied on Federal and State laws to ensure protection of a clean environment. And for decades\, while achieving some important successes in environmental protection\, overall the health of our environment for present and future generations has continued to degrade from a growing number of sources. The truth is\, our laws are designed to accommodate pollution as much as\, perhaps even more than\, to prevent it. As a result\, people feel powerless when it comes to preserving the quality of their water\, air\, public parks\, and natural spaces. But there is a solution for achieving better\, and much needed\, protection of our environment: bypass the laws and turn to the ultimate authority—our state and federal constitutions. \nMaya van Rossum lays out a new agenda for environmental advocacy that can empower every American state to mobilize for constitutional change\, and New Jersey is poised to become the first state with a modern day Green Amendment. \nWe all have the right to pure water\, clean air\, and a healthy environment.  It’s time to focus on how to truly secure that right for our own sake and that of future generations. \nZoom info to join: \nhttps://zoom.us/j/94982151804?pwd=QkxOUVpXVExIdkNDc3M1cWVPTklTdz09 \nMeeting ID: 949 8215 1804 \nPasscode: 339267
