The New Jersey Green Amendment
New Jersey was one of the first states to join our modern Green Amendment movement back in 2017. While grassroots and organizational support for the New Jersey Green Amendment has remained strong, we are still eager for New Jersey legislators to give the Amendment its time on the Assembly and Senate floors. The Amendment has successfully passed out of the Senate Environment and Energy Committee twice, but has yet to progress further in the legislative process. This does not stop our New Jersey Green Amendment Coalition from engaging in powerful education and community engagement work! From Town Hall events, to resolutions of support, to trainings on available advocacy tools, our coalition has remained active and is in it for the long-haul. Green Amendments For The Generations – the New Jersey Green Amendment
Green Amendments For The Generations is an organization working across the nation to secure highest constitutional recognition and protection for our human rights to clean air, pure water, a safe climate, and healthy environments, for both present and future generations. We are proud to partner with on-the-ground leaders in New Jersey state to provide resources, expertise, and capacity for the New Jersey Green Amendment movement.
Our organization has helped to ensure a vibrant Pennsylvania Green Amendment and lead the effort to secure New York’s Green Amendment in 2021. Learn more about the national Green Amendments For The Generations organization.
Green Amendments For The Generations seeks to inspire and support pursuit and passage of self-executing, environmental rights amendments in the Bill of Rights section of every state constitution across the U.S. and ultimately at the federal level.
Once this is accomplished, we will work with communities to ensure strong and meaningful implementation and enforcement of their constitutional Green Amendment rights, just as we are doing in the states that have so far achieved these protections.
